Bear René has recently completed an impressive 13,000sqft commercial office in St James’s Park, London for investment firm, Hambro Perks. We completed the fit-out of the firm’s headquarters in Greencoat Place in just four weeks, following a four-month period for design and planning.
Hambro Perks, led by co-founders Rupert Hambro and Dominic Perks, is a boutique advisory and investment firm recognised for its work incubating and launching start-up businesses including Sipsmith Gin, Tootle, The Dots and Laundrapp.
As a company who likes to shake things up in the investment industry, the striking redesign of the Hambro Perks headquarters, is turning heads in London’s Westminster district, with double-height wall murals from acclaimed artist Charlie Oscar Patterson. The Chelsea College of Art and Design graduate is known for his work at The Conran Shops and his distinctive bold geometric designs.
THE BRAND AND THE BUILDING
We wanted to reflect Hambro Perk’s vision of dynamism and growth in the interior styling of the offices, and instructing Charlie Oscar Patterson to bring his fresh designs into the space has given an injection of vibrant energy into the historic industrial-style building.
The unique murals with sharp lines and equilateral shapes use natural green, blue and yellow Benjamin Moore paints as highlights to the choice of organic colours which combines sage green, eau de nil and soft off-white lilacs – a colour scheme to contrast against the robust lines of the converted Victorian warehouse structure.
Original features from the building were a significant influence on the interior design and selection of office furniture. We sourced repurposed furniture from salvage suppliers such as Retrouvius, fusing strong classic furniture designs with the modern office environment as seen in the boardroom and event space. This large, open room boasts an impressive and extensive cast iron and glass decorative roof light and houses not only the large Hambro Perks boardroom table and chairs, but also a feature cast iron shelving unit made from Edwardian library shelves and a five metre long Chesterfield sofa for more relaxed conversations.
