PRESS: Bear René featured in The English Home magazine

The English Home April 2018.jpg

One of Bear René’s recently completed country home projects has been featured in the April issue of The English Home – a magazine ‘celebrating the essence of English style’.

The article entitled “Love at first sight” is a nine-page feature showcasing the beautifully crafted interior of the renovated Georgian manor house in Berkshire.

In Alex Kinder’s interview (the owner) with The English Home, she comments, “I initially consulted [Nicola] on lighting, but then she walked around the house with me and gave me some ideas for joinery. What she really helped me with, though was buying. We went shopping together and she took me to Chelsea Harbour, and introduced me to lots of fabric companies I hadn’t known about or would have been too intimidated to have gone into on my own. She acted like a sounding board and really helped me bring everything together.”

Alex continues, “When people come to stay, they tease us that it’s like being in a boutique hotel – one that we’re lucky enough to call home.”

PRESS: Bear René in 25 Beautiful Homes

25 Beautiful Homes is the magazine to pour over for your own project inspiration and the team at Bear René are proud to have one of their interior design projects in London included within such a high calibre selection of featured homes.

In an interview with Sam Smith, the owner of the home, the starting point to the décor for the home is revealed…

"Most of the décor in this house started from the hall wallpaper. Nicola showed me that one piece and I knew that I had to have it. We began from there and make all the other rooms flow from it", says Sam.

The magazine continues,

"Bear René also designed the kitchen to Sam's specification. Sam is a keen cook and Nicola took into account how much storage she wanted, the appliances she needed and the preparation and serving space she required. The units follow the same timeless classic theme seen throughout the house. They were made by Bear René's carpenter and painted the same indigo blue that is so prevalent across the whole scheme."

"This house works really well for us and there's absolutely nothing that I would change about it", concludes Sam.
